Who runs Richmond Senior Advisor?
Richmond Senior Advisor is a senior care referral and advisory service for the Richmond region and the Tri-Cities; our advisors help families compare licensed assisted living, memory care, nursing homes and home care, at no cost to the family.
We are part of a network of regional senior advisor sites, each built around its own state's licensing records. This one is built around Virginia's: the Department of Social Services assisted living roster and inspection reports, and CMS Care Compare for nursing homes.
How does Richmond Senior Advisor make money?
When a family we refer moves into a partner community, that community pays us a referral fee; families never pay us anything, and the fee does not change the price the family pays.
Because of that model we are careful about what we publish. We list every licensed facility, partner or not, using the same official fields, and we never rank facilities or create our own ratings.
What does a Richmond Senior Advisor advisor actually do?
An advisor listens to the situation -- care needs, budget, timing and the part of the region that matters -- then suggests a few licensed options, explains how Virginia programs such as the Auxiliary Grant or the CCC Plus Waiver might apply, and helps arrange tours.
Advisors do not provide medical, legal or financial advice. For eligibility decisions, the local Department of Social Services decides; for legal planning, talk to an elder law attorney.
How can families reach a Richmond Senior Advisor advisor?
Use the five-question match form from any page, or email advisors@richmondsenioradvisor.com; an advisor follows up to understand the situation before suggesting any community.
There is no obligation to tour or to choose a partner community, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.
How do we choose what to publish?
We publish only what we can trace to a primary source -- VDSS, the Department of Medical Assistance Services, the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, CMS and the CareScout survey -- and when a figure is not published, we say so instead of estimating it.
Our editorial standards page explains the rules in detail, including how we handle corrections.
What areas does Richmond Senior Advisor cover?
We cover twelve Virginia localities: Richmond City, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan and New Kent counties on the Richmond side, and Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Prince George and Dinwiddie in the Tri-Cities area.
Inside those localities our directory lists every VDSS-licensed assisted living facility and every CMS-certified nursing home. Families outside the area can still use our Virginia rules and cost guides, which apply statewide.
Those localities fall under two Area Agencies on Aging -- Senior Connections - The Span Center and the Crater District -- and each locality page explains which offices serve it.
